Data is everything, hence in a way everything can be visualized
One of the sectors included in BIG DATA are BI (business intelligence) systems. Their role is to combine data and present concrete results, often in a visual form.
A few words about the genesis of BI system:
The BI systems constituted a response to mass data appearing in the space of broadly understood economy. Their final purpose was to support decision-making based on the currently available information. Technological development has led to multi-level acceleration and ubiquitous convergence. Optimization of economic processes no longer involves individual sectors with distinctions between production, logistics, management, etc. The perception optics have changed to a more holistic worldwide, treating many sub-sectors as one interdependent system. The effects of this approach are very measurable and translate into numerous economic and, in the long run, social benefits. In this transformation, the ability to effectively manage data is a very important element. The idea of BI is consistent with the strategy of creating and stimulating Industry 4.0 and many technological trends such as IoT. The diffusion of digital technologies into almost every area of life has led to the generation of huge amounts of information. The BI systems in a way designed for economic analysis have almost naturally been adopted into the ICT space as a very effective tool to prevail and exploit these free sources of data. The distance between economics and engineering actually became smaller as it turned out that instead of coexistence, close collaboration and exchange of experience is much more effective. Indeed, there is no engineering success without commercialization and economic support.
BI systems as analytical tools in the hands of engineers
Information is information and from a technical point of view it does not matter what type of content or message it contains. Consequently, BI systems can be useful to both engineers and business analysts. Of course, due to the complexity and diversity of engineering applications, BI systems cannot be an all-in-one tool, but in most cases they will certainly provide valuable support.
