Engineering disciplines that use various forms of visual analysis
Visual analysis is used in many branches of engineering in many different ways. It may accompany other solutions but sometimes can be used as the main measurement or analysis tool. For example, in construction it is used, among others, for thermal imaging; in mechanics for testing the strength of structures against various forces; in oceanography and tracking sea currents; in meteorology to create numerical weather maps; in geology for non-invasive soil testing; in chemistry to identify reactions or compounds, etc. However, there is a common denominator that can find application in almost every field. It is the provision and use of information. Handling mass information and their comparison to achieve new knowledge is referred to as BIG DATA.
